Wolwespruit is a mountain bike and trail run park located in Erasmuskloof, Pretoria. Named after the spruit that runs through it, the park's hand crafted single track trails provide a flowing and adrenaline filled adventure for beginner to advanced skilled riders and runners.

The trails make full use of the park's topography and offers thrilling drops, jumps, river crossings and lots of uphill! It is a perfect place to practices skills and get fit at the same time. The park is fully fenced and provides a safe environment to enjoy the outdoors right in the heart of Pretoria east. At the moment the park has 22 km of single track with about 300m of climbing to be done, 8 km of running trails which can also be used for walking. Dogs on leashes are welcome to join runners and walkers.

Wolwespruit MTB park also has three new features; one of the largest pump tracks around, a skills clinic area and a jump line for those who need a double dose of adrenaline. All of them designed with the aim to increase rider skill level, confidence and provide hours of fun.

In the next couple of months, the trails will be expanded to a network of circle routes and loops, providing more berms, obstacles and exhilaration for all skill levels. There are some exciting plans for the park, so follow us to keep up to date on operating hours, new features and events.

Buffelsdrift Mountain Bike Park is located only 15km North of Pretoria and provides a safe and secure riding environment within the confines of the Buffelsdrift Nature Conservancy. Lying on the western boundaries of the Dinokeng area, between the Roodeplaat Dam and the N1 highway, Buffelsdrift Conservancy has become a fairly popular place to visit not only because it is so easy to reach, so close to both Pretoria and Johannesburg, but also as a superb birding spot.  This is due in no small part to the proximity of the Roodeplaat dam, from which an extensive canal system runs, and the Pienaars River that runs through the conservancy attracting birds for most of the year.

Our bike park has been used to showcase the natural beauty the bushveld has to offer and the wildlife that can be viewed while riding is some of the most breathtaking in the world.  We have Kudu, Zebra, Impala and even the tempestuous Warthog or Bush Pig.  They have an appeal that no one can quite explain.

Sappi’s wide-spread plantations, coupled with the vision and dedication of passionate local mountain biking enthusiasts, have resulted in a world-class trail network which is now accessible to recreational riders year round.

All routes start and finish at the Karkloof Country Club where additional facilities include safe parking and hot showers – everything you need to enjoy a great mountain biking experience! There are plans to introduce a coffee shop and restaurant which will be open Friday night, Saturday breakfast/lunch/supper and Sunday breakfast/lunch.

In an effort to make the area safer and more enjoyable for recreational riders, the Karkloof Mountain Biking Club has implemented the International Mountain Biking Association trail-grading standards across the entire trail network. There are marked and mapped routes ranging from a very easy 10 kilometres and an easy 20 kilometres to a moderately challenging 30-kilometre route.

Once riders become more familiar with the trails, they are then also able to connect to other sections, referred to as outback trails, which do not form part of the marked and regularly maintained trails, but allow riders to create longer routes and enjoy more variety.

Howick Mountain Biking is a specialist Mountain Bike Club formed for those who are passionate about Mountain Biking. We are located in Howick in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands of South Africa and do most of our riding in the plantations between Howick and the Karkloof. Technical singletrack is where we are at and to this end we have laid out over 45km of  singletrack, varying from gentle terrain and tree lined paths to attention grabbing sections that are aptly named Suicide Slide, The Face, Rushalot and Pines.

Howick MTB Club has numerous club activities and schedule regular club rides. Although we love singletrack, we cater for all levels of riders. We ride hard..we have fun... and we simply revel in Mountain Biking!

The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup is a multi-round mountain bike racing series that is sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale. The first World Cup series – which was composed of cross-country events – was held in 1989. The Downhill World Cup was inaugurated two years later, and the Dual Slalom World Cup was launched in 1998. The dual-slalom format – which involved knock-out heats with two riders on the parallel courses in each heat – evolved into four-cross (with four riders on a single course per heat) in 2002 before being dropped after the 2011 season. Riders win points according to their placing in each event. The reigning series leaders in each class are identified by a special jersey. The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup is broadcast live and globally on Red Bull TV.
